Privacy Policy

The short version

Marlin⁶ Translate translates on your device. Your text, the books and pages you read, and how you use the app never reach us, because there is no server for them to reach.

This website stores the email address you type into the early-access form. Nothing else is added to the signup record.

What the app collects

Nothing. Selected text and its surrounding sentence are processed on your device and are not transmitted, logged, or stored by us.

What this website collects

If you ask for early access, we store:

• Your email address, and the date you submitted it.

We do not store your IP address, your browser, your referrer, or anything else alongside it. We use no analytics and no advertising or tracking pixels.

The home-page showcase reads your browser's language preferences locally to choose which translation to display. Those preferences are not sent to us, stored, or used for tracking.

When something on this site breaks, an error report is sent to Sentry so we can fix it. The report describes the fault, not you: the page it happened on, the browser and operating-system version, and the line of our code that failed. It carries no IP address, no identifier, and nothing you typed. Nothing is sent while the site is working, and the reports are not analytics - they cannot say who visited, what you read, or how long you stayed.

Processors

• Cloudflare - hosts this site and stores the early-access database. Cloudflare processes request logs as part of serving and protecting the site.
• Sentry - receives a report when this site's code throws an error, so that the fault is visible to us rather than only to you. It is configured not to attach personal data to those reports. It sets nothing in your browser and is not used to measure traffic.
• Cloudflare Turnstile - checks that signups come from a person rather than a script. It may keep a short-lived verification token in your browser while it does so. That token tells a person from a script; it does not identify you and does not follow you between sites. It is the only thing this site stores in your browser — there are no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and so no consent banner.

How long we keep it

Your address is kept until Marlin⁶ Translate launches and the launch email has been sent, or until you ask us to delete it - whichever comes first.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email privacy@marlin6.com and we will action it. Since the signup record is one email-address row, deletion is immediate and complete.

Children

Marlin⁶ Translate is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

Whenever this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top of this page changes with it, so that date always tells you which version you are reading. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we email everyone on the early-access list as well, rather than leave you to notice the date.
