What is Marlin Translate?
Marlin Translate is a translator for phones and tablets that translates the word or phrase you select without leaving the app you are reading in. It reads the sentence around your selection before it translates, so the result fits the passage.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Translation runs on the phone or tablet itself, so there is no network round trip and no connection is required. Nothing waits on a server, which is also why the result appears at reading speed.
Is what I read private?
Yes. Selected text and the sentence around it are processed on your device and are not transmitted, logged, or stored by Marlin6 LLC. There is no server for a reading history to reach.
How is it different from a dictionary or an ordinary translator?
Most translators take a word on its own and return its most common sense. Marlin Translate reads the sentence and the passage around the selection first, so an ambiguous word resolves to the sense the page is actually using.
When is it available, and what does it cost?
Marlin Translate has not been released yet; it is coming to the App Store and Google Play. Early access is free, and joining the list gets you exactly one email when the app ships.
